I was born and raised in Calabria. For years I organized weddings the way everyone organizes them: beautiful, careful, in wonderful places.
Then I understood the work that interested me was something else — the couples who didn't come to Calabria for the setting, but because it was home.
I recognized them right away. They arrived with a surname, a half-remembered aunt, a village that maybe started with S. And they left bringing home a family they didn't know they had.
I had to plan only three of these weddings to know this was what I wanted to do. Nothing else.
What I've learned that isn't taught in courses.
That the patron saint of a village matters more than a color palette. That every village bakery has a story, and that story belongs printed on the wedding menu. That Calabrian parish archives keep registers from the 1500s and you have to know how to read them.
That the grandmother crying during lunch isn't unwell — and explaining that to the German guests is part of the job.

Wedding planning training with Federica Ambrosini (Milan, 2014). AIS sommelier diploma (2017). Member of the Italea network for the genealogical research of Italian-descendant families. Over seventy heritage weddings built in Calabria. Cases featured in Italian and American industry publications.
